Eliminate Signs Of Spillage With Simple But Effective Rug Cleaning Steps

Posted by Admin - February 13th, 2010

Okay, you wanted to make your house look really different and decorate it to suit contemporary tastes. So, you went up to the best rug shop in town and picked up some beautiful, exquisite rugs by paying through your nose. The hardest part is maintaining this rug in prime condition so it stays with you for long without showing signs of fading.

Rug cleaning is a tough job. However, it can be made easy with a few handy tips. One of the reasons for the rugs to get dirty is the spillage of liquids on its fabric. The chances of spillage are high if you have small children in the house or you indulge in house parties often. When this happens, attend to it immediately. Don’t let the stain seep into the fabric of the rug and cause permanent damage.

Place a thick cloth, capable of absorbing the stain, on the spot and press it with a heavy object. Leave it this way for a few hours and then, remove the cloth and clean the stain. Brush the stained portion gently with a good carpet cleaning agent and wipe it dry.

During the process of rug cleaning or tile cleaning, do not brush the rug hard. This can lead to the delicate fibers in it giving way and falling off. Instead, use a soft brush but a strong cleaning agent to wipe off the stain.

Make sure you don’t expose the rug to the harsh rays of the Sun for it to dry. This will result in color fading.
